Letter: Red Bridge dock donations appreciated

Email

The Fish Hook Lake and River Association voted to erect a dock at the Red Bridge Park to enable people to dock their boats there and enjoy beautiful revitalized downtown Park Rapids. The Fish Hook Lake and River Association provided $1,000. A grant was written to Itasca-Mantrap Electric Cooperative for the additional money needed.

The dock has been advantageous for many people to use during the summer, however more dock space is needed. The board has the opportunity to place one more dock in that same area for additional use. The city of Park Rapids has been supportive of the dock placement, recognizing also that people can walk through downtown Park Rapids to visit retail and service industries while leaving their watercraft safely at the dock.

The hope for next season is that one additional dock can be placed at the Red Bridge Park location. Sunny Shores donated $50 with additional money raised through contributions at the 2010 Fish Hook Lake and River annual meeting. For others who care to donate to the new dock, tax deductible contributions can be made to the city of Park Rapids with a notation: dock fund. If additional funds are raised, a second dock would be placed at the location by Memorial Day weekend.

Thank you for this consideration and your support!
