Letter: Radiothon to End Child Abuse is soon
I would like to remind people of the annual Radiothon to End Child Abuse, which is coming up Dec. 6 and 7.
The money that is raised by the Radiothon comes back to benefit the Hubbard County Child Abuse Prevention Council. Money is used for the SAFE Parks Program operated in Park Rapids and Akeley. The objective of SAFE Parks is to provide a Safe and Fun Environment (SAFE) for all the children who participate. In addition, this money has been used for Kinship, a mentoring program for children in our area.
We are excited about a new program we implemented last year called Family Toybox, which is a multiple-family therapy group for children ages 3-5 and their parents. During the sessions the families participate in activities focused on building stronger relationships, learning skills in a limited setting, communicating, and structuring activities to promote success.
It is through the generous support of our community that the Hubbard County Child Abuse Prevention Council can continue to support programs that directly affect the lives of our children. Please consider pledging to either the Bemidji or Wadena radio stations. The phone numbers to pledge are 218-444-1500 or 877-509-7233.
Thanks to all who support this year's Radiothon to End Child Abuse.
