Letter: Nemeth Art Center thanks supporters
The Board of Directors of the Nemeth Art Center would like to thank our members, visitors, and the Park Rapids community at large for your continued support. This season we strived to bring new and exciting exhibits and educational opportunities to the community. Throughout the summer we brought artists to Park Rapids from as far away as Los Angeles and as close as Menahga to display their work and lead educational workshops and lectures. In August the Art Center held the first juried competition in its history, and artists from all over the Upper Midwest participated in the show. Without the Park Rapids community, this season of programming would not have been possible.
Next year promises to be even more exciting. Through a new partnership with the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and grant funding from the Legacy Program, the NAC will be hosting the first ever Minnesota Artist Exhibition Program satellite show. We've also received funding to bring world-class artists to Northwest Minnesota to give lectures and teach workshops. The NAC will continue to show local, regional, and national artists through our curatorial program, which is expanding.
In addition to these developments, the NAC has also made progress in securing the safety and longevity of the Gabor and Edith Nemeth Study Collection. These paintings, which are unique to Park Rapids and enrich the community, are over 500 years old, and preserving them requires dedication. We recently held a fundraising drive to help construct a custom storage unit for these paintings, and through the support of the community, our goal was exceeded and construction is currently underway.
As leaders of a non-profit organization, we understand that without your interest and support, we would not have been able to accomplish any of the things we have this year. We would like to thank all of our members and those who visited the Art Center this summer. Your commitment to the arts is important, and we appreciate it. The NAC also received generous support from Bella Caffé, J&B Foods, Coborn's Grocery, The Good Life Café, Walmart, and Campañeros Restaurant. We would like to thank these businesses for their donations.
Please check our website www.NemethArtCenter.org for more information about the exciting events we have planned for the winter. We hope to see you at our Member's Show at The Good Life Cafe in December.
