Letter: Here’s my idea for a health plan

I find it difficult to respond to Mr. Purrier’s recent letter of bloviation and vociferous obfuscation so I will summarize with this: Some people know what they know and know they don’t know what they don’t know while others know what they know but don’t know they don’t know what they don’t know.

My health plan for consideration is to allow insurance providers to compete for clients and also allow the medical providers the opportunity to organize to provide medical services to their patient members at a flat rate per month or yearly. The result is a doctor/patient relationship. I believe this competitive approach, without government intruding, will provide better care at a lower cost.

The taxpayers and insurance company and medical providers could jointly furnish medical assistance to those who demonstrate can’t afford it. Further, we need tort reform to mitigate the effect of malpractice law suits.
