Letter: Crosswalk is the problem, not bridge
Removing the trestle bridge is the worst idea in a while. It is a safe bridge for what it is used. Removing it, as far as foot traffic is concerned, will only move the problem down the road a block.
What we really need is better control of the traffic. From all ways. Cars don’t seem to know what the speed limit signs mean, or maybe they do not mean them.
Some pedestrians think they don’t have to stop, look, and look again. Just because it is a pedestrian crossing doesn’t mean everyone obeys the rules.
The bridge is way older than anyone in Park Rapids and should be a historical site.
I see cars going way too fast through town and walkers thinking they don’t have to look around.
