Letter: Citizens encouraged to visit courtroom
I urge the citizens of Hubbard County to sit in on court a few times to evaluate for themselves the preparedness, efficiency and the easy cases the county attorney, Don Dearstyne, presents. Some murders are slam dunk verdicts, some rapes and assaults are more difficult to prove.
The $40,000 taken in by prosecuting the city is offset by the increased cost in doing so. The Enterprise article June 10 stated he is 42 percent over for 2010, and that is without a third full time attorney.
Why does he release to the press without request so many of his cases when prosecuting is his full time job?
