Having grown up in Park Rapids, I know how great that small town atmosphere is. Although my husband and I have moved away years ago, we still reside at our cabin as much as we can since we still absolutely love it in Park Rapids.
Until three years ago, Bucky Johnson was "only" my second cousin. Over the past year, Bucky went from being "only" my second cousin, to a very caring person, when my father became very ill. He was still trying to live at home but had a few evenings when he would run into some trouble. That is when everything changed. Bucky dropped whatever he was doing and would come to my dad's rescue. On a couple of occasions, his health issues would take him to the hospital, with Bucky staying with him until the ambulance came.
Uncle Bob, as he was known, was so appreciative of every last one of Bucky's "visits." It was hard for him to accept help, so when Bucky came into the picture, he was so much more at ease and started to ask if Bucky could come over to help him. When Bucky and I would chat about the incident, he would always say, "it's the right thing to do, it's no trouble."
So, for those of you who have yet to make your choice for commissioner, know that Bucky will go the extra mile to be that caring person that the county needs so desperately.
