Letter: Auxiliary fetes 95th; bravo to veterans salute
It was Nov. 10, 1919 when the American Legion Auxiliary was established by a resolution adopted at the first national convention of the American Legion in Minneapolis.
Since then, the Auxiliary has grown to approximately 10,000 units and over 800,000 members.
The state of Minnesota membership as of October 2014 was 15,794 participants. The local American Legion Auxiliary Unit 212 currently has 212 members. We are actively recruiting new members. Please contact the American Legion Post 212 at 732-5238. Find out: who we are, what we do and why we matter.
Bravo to the military salute to our veterans!
We want to commend the Park Rapids School District grades 5-8 Veterans Day program held on Nov. 11. It was a wonderful tribute to the soldiers serving our country and the veterans who sacrificed for our nation’s freedom. The program was an informative and emotional dedication.
The “Soldier in Your Pocket” presentation was an inspiring part of the program. The memento of the toy soldier to keep in your pocket or purse will remind attendees how vital our servicemen and women, past and present, deserve our utmost respect.
It is so refreshing to see our young people and the teachers provide this annual patriotic learning experience for our community.
American Legion Auxiliary,
