Letter: 25 years of comfort, love, respect

For anyone facing serious or life-limiting illness, hospice care provides comfort, love and respect to patients and their loved ones when they need it most.

St. Joseph's Area Health Services Hospice has been at the bedsides of our friends, families and neighbors for the last 25 years helping them cope with end-of-life issues with dignity. Our healing ministry calls on us to focus on the individual, not the illness, and bring honor to anyone making life's final journey.

Hospice care allows patients to remain at home or your care center, with managed pain control and surrounded by loved ones. We provide medical care, emotional and spiritual comfort and support for loved ones and caregivers so patients, families and friends can embrace time together, enjoying life and living as fully as possible.

For a quarter of a century we have been graced by poignant patient encounters and enriching moments that touch our hearts. What an honor it is to be a part of this healing mission!

As St. Joseph's celebrates 25-years of hospice care and recognizes National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, we would like to invite all to join us at the Park Rapids downtown tree lighting and Light Up A Life ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23. Witness our community tree illuminate with love shared in honor or memory of those dear to us.

Additionally, we appreciate the time many area churches have graciously set aside for Sunday, Nov. 18 or 25 to share the hospice story with their congregations.

We would like to thank all of our dear friends who have supported St. Joseph's Hospice program over the years. You have played a vital role in helping others and in bringing comfort, love and respect to God's people.

You are a blessing in our lives. May the joy of the holiday season lift your hearts.
