Unfortunately, the Panthers couldn't match Pequot Lakes on the offensive end in the final 10 minutes.

Pequot Lakes outscored the Panthers 17-6 and 11-2 during two key runs to build a 30-18 lead early in the second half.

The Panthers rallied to close the gap to 37-33 with 10:32 remaining. That's when the Patriots went on a 19-4 run to claim a 56-37 advantage with 4:07 to play to sweep the season series.

Park Rapids, which lost to the Patriots 74-31 earlier in the season, took control early in the rematch Friday night by opening the game with a 9-2 run. Layups by Kyle Goplerud and Chris Goplerud and jumpers by Ryan Peterson and Zach Jewison gave the Panthers the early lead with 10:49 to play in the first half.

Pequot Lakes responded with a 17-6 run sparked by a pair of 3-pointers by Nevin Greer and another 3-pointer by Logan Lange as the Patriots led 19-13 at the 5:58 mark.

After a layup by Chris Goplerud at the 4:36 mark, Pequot Lakes closed out the half with a 9-2 spurt as Greer hit two more 3-pointers to give the Patriots a 28-18 cushion at the break.

A layup by Tyler McCollum, a jumper by Kyle Goplerud, layups by Andy Waller and Peterson, and a 3-pointer by McCollum pulled the Panthers to within 32-29 with 13:05 to play.

Layups by Chris Goplerud and Tanner Otterness kept the Panthers within 37-33 at the 10:32 mark, but Pequot Lakes used a pair of 3-pointers and a jumper by Lange and three inside baskets by Riley Johnson to push the lead to 56-37 with 4:07 to go. A layup by Otterness at the 8:08 mark and a jumper by Chris Goplerud at the 6:30 mark provided the only field goals for the Panthers down the stretch.

Lange scored 19 points and Greer added 17 points as the Patriots improved to 6-2 in the conference and 9-9 overall.

Chris Goplerud led the Panthers with 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Tyler Ridlon, Mason Long and McCollum had two assists each as the Panthers fell to 1-7 in the conference and 1-16 overall.

"I thought the kids played well," said Park Rapids head coach Matt Brandt. "It was one of the best all-around games we've played this year."
