Large storm could cause holiday travel problems
Holiday travelers will want to stay on top of weather forecasts this week as a very large winter storm is expected to affect parts of the southern Red River Valley from Wednesday night possibly through Saturday morning.
The heaviest snow will likely hit cities like Omaha, Neb., Sioux Falls, S.D., and the Twin Cities in Minnesota, but areas from Fargo to Bemidji, Minn., may catch some of it, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, N.D.
The storm could bring snow amounts ranging from 8 to 12 inches, while high winds could create blizzard conditions in the worst hit areas, the Weather Service said.
While southern parts of the Red River Valley are expected to be on the fringe of the storm system, it's too early to know just how the system will track, the Weather Service said.
