Laporte students to stage musical
The Laporte School Drama Club announces their production of the musical "Zombie Prom," with music by Dana Rowe and book and lyrics by John Dempsey. This girl-loves-ghoul Off Broadway musical promises a fun and fast-paced evening of family entertainment. "Zombie Prom will be staged Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 15, 16, and 17 with a 7:29 p.m. curtain at the Laporte School Theater. Twenty-five students in grades 7-12 combine forces to launch the show. They are supported by director John Henningsgaard, music director Maddie Lawrence, costumer Diane Sauer and choreographer Crystal Bessler. "Zombie Prom" is set in the atomic 1950s in Enrico Fermi High. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. When her parents and principal caution her to end the relationship, Jonny, who spells his name without the customary h, plunges headfirst into the town's nuclear reactor. He returns glowing and more determined than ever to win Toffee's heart. Among the cast members are, from left, Ethan Stute, Brian Bass, Teri Akers, Kristine Pierce and Aleesha Corsin.
