Lancaster, Minn., woman shot in groin area
A Lancaster, Minn., woman is in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks after being shot in the groin area, the Kittson County Sherriff's Department said.
Sheriff Kenny Hultgren said Laura Docken, 48, went to the clinic in Karlstad, Minn., at 8:12 a.m. Thursday with a gunshot wound likely caused by a shotgun. A doctor saw Docken about 9 a.m. and decided to transfer her by ambulance to Altru.
She underwent emergency surgery and is listed in satisfactory condition.
Hultgren said authorities obtained a warrant and conducted a search Thursday of the Lake Bronson, Minn., home of her boyfriend, Dave Eidem, 49. He was arrested in Karlstad and brought to the county jail in Hallock, Minn., for a condition of release violation from a previous charge.
Eidem has not been charged in connection with the gunshot wound.
The incident is under investigation, Hultgren said, and Docken did not identify who shot her. "We're still gathering evidence," he said. "Just when you thought you've seen it all."
