Lakers win close matches in decisive win
John Kyllonen's third-period pin at 182 pounds was the only win for the Park Rapids wrestling team in a 56-6 Mid-State Conference loss at Detroit Lakes Tuesday.
Kyllonen held a 15-3 lead before recording the pin at the 4:28 mark.
Detroit Lakes won the first 10 matches in building a 44-0 advantage. Of those 10 wins, two were major decisions, four were minor decisions and four were forfeits. The Lakers ended the match with a pin and two more minor decisions.
The win gave the Lakers a 3-0 record against conference opponents and a 10-1 overall record while the Panthers fell to 1-2 against Mid-State foes and 2-8 overall.
