The Lakers, the No. 4 seed in the south half of the section, won seven of the first eight matches in building a 31-5 lead and added three more victories en route to a 47-21 victory at the Century School gym.

Two pins in the first four matches helped give Detroit Lakes a 19-0 advantage.

Forrest Drury ended that run with a 16-0 technical fall in the 130-pound match. Drury led 2-0 after the first period, used a reversal and nearfall for a 7-0 lead after the second period, and ended the match at the 5:39 mark with a takedown and three nearfalls.

Three more victories pushed the Lakers' advantage to 31-5 before Park Rapids responded with back-to-back wins.

Matt Weaver built an 8-0 advantage with a pair of takedowns and a nearfall before recording a pin in the 152-pound bout before Jared Nash followed with a 12-3 major decision at 160. Nash led 4-0 after the first period with a takedown and nearfall and used a pair of takedowns to extend the lead to 8-3 after the second period before a takedown and nearfall sealed the win. Those two victories helped pull the No. 5-seeded Panthers to within 31-15.

Detroit Lakes sealed the victory by winning the next three matches, including two via pins.

Park Rapids heavyweight Kenny Weaver ended the meet with a pin at the 1:41 mark.

The loss ended the Panthers' dual-meet record at 9-16.
