Future kindergartners and their parents are invited to Century School's Round-Up Day Friday, March 30.

Children with a last name beginning with the letter A-K are invited to the morning session at 9 a.m. and children with a last name beginning with the letter L-Z are invited to the afternoon session at 1 p.m. Both sessions last approximately an hour and a half.

The school has seen a large turnout for the last few years.

"We're inviting parents and their children to come to the school for an introduction to kindergarten," said Century School principal Joleen De La Hunt.

The session will start in the first grade pod. Children will become familiar with the kindergarten classrooms and teachers during the session. It's an opportunity to make new friends and see what a kindergarten day is like. The teacher each child has for the day will not necessarily be the child's teacher in the fall. The Park Rapids Area School District has all day, every day kindergarten.

After the beginning presentations, parents will break out into two groups. In the smaller groups, parents will have the opportunity to visit with various departments of the school. This will help parents to enroll their child and be ready for the fall.

Departments include nursing services, transportation, food service, special education, title one service, before and after school programs and PTA.

Parents are asked to bring the following: Enrollment forms, birth certificate, immunization record, transportation information and pre-school screening verification.

Parents who are not planning to enroll their children in kindergarten this fall are asked to call 237-6200. The district needs this information in order to know the number of children we will be serving in the 2012-13 school year.
