Judith "Judy" Kay Patton, 63, of Park Rapids, died Feb. 23, 2009 following a battle against cancer.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1945 in Devils Lake, N.D. to Merril and Nina (Roth) Steinke. During her younger years, she attended school in North Dakota until her family moved to Park Rapids during her high school years. She graduated from Park Rapids High School with the class of 1964.
She married Bruce Patton on July 9, 1966 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. They had three children: Wayne, Sandra and Paul. She gained employment with the H.W. Carter and Sons Ringer Company in Park Rapids and worked there until it closed. She then gained employment with Lamb Weston RDO where she worked for 25 years as a laboratory technician until her failing health forced her to retire in February of 2007. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Sandra (Ronald Jr.) Carnell, of Menahga; two sons: Wayne (Heather Lewis), of Park Rapids and Paul (Genea), of Park Rapids; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Elaine (Roland) Senechal, of Drake, N.D. and Pat (Elliott) Annette, of Chaska; a brother, Jim Steinke, of Minneapolis; a brother-in-law, Tom Grau, of Newell, Iowa; her friend, Janet Scott of Park Rapids; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cheryl Grau; and a nephew, Bruce Senechal.
Honorary casket bearers: Her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial service: Friday, Feb. 27 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. James Neubauer officiating.
