BISMARCK – Josh Duhamel is the new voice of North Dakota.

North Dakota Tourism unveiled a new campaign Tuesday featuring the 41-year-old actor from Minot discussing the virtues of the state.

He previewed the spots in a taped introduction.

“The best state in America, my home state of North Dakota, has some awesome new TV ads previewing all of the beautiful scenery and all of the fun things to do and see there,” he says.

A news release for the new campaign stated outdoor adventure was a major factor in visits to the state. Most of the new spots focus on outdoor activities like golfing, hunting, fishing and exploring Teddy Roosevelt National Park.

The ads will target audiences in Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Touting the success of the “Legendary” campaign to promote tourism, the press release stated that the 2012 advertising campaign led to more than 1.4 million trips to North Dakota, $231.6 million in visitor spending and $17.8 million in tax revenue.

Duhamel says he’s, “proud of my home state and I was truly honored when they asked me to be the voice of their newest ‘Legendary’ advertising campaign.”

He signs off, raising his fist and yelling, “Bully,” a reference to former North Dakota resident, President Teddy Roosevelt, who referred to his time in the White House as his “Bully Pulpit.”
