Johnson's four goals spark 6-2 win over Bagley

Ian Johnson (5) had four goals and two assists in leading the Panthers to a 6-2 win over Bagley/Fosston Thursday night.

Ian Johnson scored four goals against Bagley/Fosston and three different players scored goals against Kittson Central as the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team defeated a pair of Section 8A rivals.

Johnson's four goals and two assists led the Panthers to a 6-2 win over Bagley/Fosston Thursday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena while Connor Kennedy, Frank Moren and Luke Jaeger scored goals in a 3-2 win over Kittson Central at Walker Saturday afternoon.

The two wins gave the Panthers a 2-3 record against section teams and a 4-4-2 overall record.

Johnson sparks win over Bagley

Johnson played a role in all six goals as the Panthers dominated Bagley.

Noah MacPherson assisted on a power-play goal by Johnson just 1:41 into the game and Johnson set up MacPherson 32 seconds later as the Panthers claimed a quick 2-0 lead.

After Bagley tied the game at 2-2 after the first period, the Panthers dominated the second period by using a 23-2 advantage in shots and a pair of goals by Johnson to take the lead. MacPherson assisted on Johnson's second goal at the 10:38 mark and Jamie Stewart received an assist as Johnson completed his hat trick at the 15:33 mark.

Johnson and Ryan DeLaHunt assisted on a goal by Frank Moren at the 7:10 mark of the third period before MacPherson received his third assist on Johnson's fourth goal with 3:56 to play.

Goalie Cody Brumbaugh finished with 14 saves as the Panthers finished with a 51-16 advantage in shots.

Bagley/Fosston, which went 0-for-7 on the power play, fell to 1-4 in the section and 5-6 overall.

Panthers edge Kittson Central

Jaeger's goal with 11:23 to play proved to be the game-winner as the Panthers edged Kittson Central.

Jaeger and Drew Bade assisted on a goal by Kennedy at the 7:20 mark of the first period as the Panthers took a 1-0 lead.

After Kittson Central took a 2-1 lead, Moren tied the game at the 7:39 mark of the second period. Kennedy later set up Jaeger for the game-winner in the third period.

Brumbaugh made 18 saves as the Panthers held a 28-20 edge in shots.

The loss dropped Kittson Central to 4-4 in the section and 7-5 overall.
