John M. Donley, 85, of Ogema, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
John was born the son of Harry and Emma (Helliksen) Donley on Dec. 5, 1922, in Erie Township, Becker County. He attended rural school in Becker County. John married Glenise Lee on Oct. 24, 1953 in Audubon. They made their home on a farm near Ogema, where John farmed and raised livestock. John was active on his church council and was also on the Riceville Township Board.
John enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving John are his three sons, Daniel Donley of Detroit Lakes, Shane (Martha) Donley of Oregonia, Ohio and Harry Donley of Ogema; daughter, June (Bill) Steffl of Callaway; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn (Barbara) Donley of Callaway and Lyle Donley of Ogema; sister-in-law, Edith Donley of Detroit Lakes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding John in death were his wife, Glenise (2003); grandson, Michael Steffl (2001); brother, Orville (1988); and sister, Irene Pitcock (2002).
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Callaway, with a prayer service to follow at 7 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Callaway, with interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
