Jerry Neil Wambolt
Jerry Neil Wambolt, 69, formerly of Nevis, died Friday, March 27, 2009 after a battle with congestive heart failure.
He was born Dec. 6, 1939 to Edward and Alice (Westvik) Wambolt in Nevis, the seventh of 10 children.
He lived most of his life in the Nevis area with the exception of moving to Sacramento, Calif. in 1998 and moving back to New York Mills in 2005.
He attended Nevis Public School and graduated in 1958. In 1961 he married Bonnie Kriens of Park Rapids and they were married for 10 years. They had two children: Jodi and Gregory. He married Jeannette (Limanen) Borg, originally from Sebeka, in 1972. They had one child, Jason, and he adopted her two children: Jamieson and Laurice.
He worked for Aluminum Industries and Crosby Tool Co. in Minneapolis until 1963. He moved back to Nevis and became plant manager for North States Industries from 1963 until 1972. He then worked for Gross Construction Co., Nevis, as carpenter foreman for five years and started his own building contracting business from 1977 to 1985.
Due to two heart surgeries, he worked for Nevis Lumber Co. until 1987. He resumed his own building contracting business in 1987 until he became disabled after his third heart surgery in 1989.
He was a volunteer fireman for Nevis Fire Department for seven years; a Nevis Township Board member for six years; a member of Muskie, Inc.; a member of Church of Christ and Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis; and a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran, Sacramento, Calif. and Trinity Lutheran Church, New York Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; two sons: Gregory (Lori), of Nevis, and Jason (Kimberly), of Ft. Drum, N.Y.; two adopted children: Jamieson, of Hayward, Wis., and Laurice Undem, of Waite Park; a son-in-law, Daniel Hardy, of Fargo, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers: Edward (Marjorie), of Chaska; Clyde (Cloe), of Casper, Wyo., and Robert (Pauline), of Nevis; four sisters: Genevieve (Norval Turnage) Anderson, of Nevis; Beverly (Carl) Rodriguez, of Wheatland, Calif.; Hazel (Brian) Toyama, of Sacramento, Calif., and Yvonne, of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Elna, of Siren, Wis.; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Juanita; a brother, Arnold (Skip); a daughter, Jodi Hardy; an infant grandson, Chase; a brother-in-law, Keith Anderson; and father- and mother-in-law, Eino and Aleda (Windels) Limanen.
Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills with Pastor Jon Hakana and Pastor Daniel Holm, of Kenwood Lutheran Church, Duluth, officiating. Pastor Holm had formerly been his pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church, Nevis.
Honorary casket bearers: His grandsons: Bryce, Brandon and Blaze Bellomo, Bret and Devon Wambolt, Colton Turner, Gregory Hurlburt, and William Wambolt Scott.
Interment: At a later date.
