Jane H. Besler
Jane H. Besler, 72, of Akeley, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids.
Visitation: will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at the Union Congregational Church in Hackensack. Rev. Michael Small will officiate.
Jane was born Oct. 4, 1937 in Manhattan, Kan. the daughter of Henry and Enid Besler. She graduated from North High in Wichita, Kan. and furthered her education at Emporia State majoring in english and physical education. She completed her formal education by earning a master's degree in physical education. She taught in Wichita until moving to the Akeley area in 1965. Jane taught one year in Remer before beginning her 30 year teaching and coaching career in Park Rapids. She also was part owner in Tamahay Camp for girls, which opened its gates in 1969.
Jane is survived by two brothers, Ray (Leslie) Besler and Harry (Barbara) Besler; nephews, Chris and Ian; friends and business partners; special former students; and the entire Tamaha family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bing.
A memorial in Jane's name has been established at the Headwaters Animal Shelter in Park Rapids.
