James R. Frigstad, 72, of Detroit Lakes, died at hgis home on Monday, May 19, 2008, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
James Rudolph Samuel Frigstad was born to Rudolph S. and Martha (Kystad) Frigstad on July 10, 1935 in Montclair, N.J. He was raised in Portland, N.D., and St. Paul, Minn. He served with the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge, he returned to St. Paul, where he worked in retail management for Robert Hall Stores.
James married Mary Parker Jan. 27, 1968 in Minneapolis. They lived in Kankakee and Chicago, Ill., where he worked as a stock broker; Mayville, N.D., where he was the Ford dealer; and Colorado Springs, Colo., where he was a property manager and operated a retail shop and a bar. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 2004.
James enjoyed his family cottage on Ottertail Lake, woodworking and fixing things. He was a member of the Southern Colorado Beverage Association and the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frigstad of Detroit Lakes; two sons, John (Laura) Frigstad of St. Anthony, Minn., and Matthew Frigstad of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two grandchildren. His parents and three brothers, Roger, Robert and Donald preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 23 in the Living Room at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes with the Rev. Jerry Rogers, officiating. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
