Jaeger’s hat trick in third period lifts Panthers to 3-1 win over Prairie Centre

     Luke Jaeger’s natural hat trick in the third period lifted the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team to a 3-1 Mid-State Conference win over Prairie Centre Monday night at Long Prairie.

     After a scoreless first period, Preston Pung’s power-play goal gave Prairie Centre a 1-0 lead entering the final period.

     Connor Kennedy set up Jaeger with the game-tying goal at the 3:17 mark before Kennedy and Kiefer Miller received assists on Jaeger’s game-winning power-play goal at the 15:24 mark. Kennedy and Noah MacPherson assisted on Jaeger’s third goal into an empty net with :01 remaining.

     Goalie Cody Brumbaugh finished with 18 saves for the Panthers, who held a 27-19 advantage in shots to improve to 7-0 in conference play and 14-5-3 overall.

     Prairie Centre, which went 1-for-6 on the power play, fell to 2-4 in the conference and 12-10 overall.
