Jack was born May 3, 1939, in Ross Township, Roseau County, to Herbert and Gladys Bishop.

He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Viola and Sherm Stekelenburg, whom he loved like parents.

He graduated from Falls High School.

He married Elaine Belanger Jan. 29, 1965, in International Falls.

The couple raised two daughters, Jackie, born Sept. 7, 1965, in Sioux City, Iowa; and Erin, born April 17, 1975, in Fergus Falls.

Jack lived a full and rich life. He loved people, especially those he came into contact with through his business, Jack Bishop's Hilltop Homes on U.S. Highway 10 in New York Mills.

He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but the disease never beat him. He worked until the end, refusing to let MS take his ability to walk and be independent.

His hobbies included reading, fishing in Canada, golfing, flying, watching sports, and owning numerous fun and unique vehicles.

Survivors include his former wife and friend, Elaine; daughters, Jackie (Kyle) Gylsen and Erin (Steve) Bishop-Schulz; brother, Larry Bishop; as well as many other relatives with whom he kept contact; and all of his four-legged grandchildren.
