IRENE RIDDLE

Irene Katherine Riddle, 90, residing at Camilia Rose Care Center in Coon Rapids, MN died Monday, June 30, 2014.

Irene was born in Akron, Ohio Dec. 1, 1923 to Alonzo and Esther Drayer. She grew up in Akron and lived there until she was married and shortly thereafter moved to Iowa with her husband James Riddle.

Irene met her husband Jim when they both worked for Goodyear in a factory that built blimps during World War II. After marrying they moved to Iowa and then Arizona, but eventually settled in Eagle Grove, Iowa where they raised their three children.

While raising her chil-dren, Irene had her own interior painting business and later worked at the Middle School cafeteria as a cook.

Upon retirement Irene and Jim moved to their lake home outside of Henning and eventually they settled in Park Rapids, where she and Jim lived for 14 years. After Jim's passing she spent the last three years at Guardian Angels on the Lake in Elk River, but after a fall, moved to Camilia Rose Care Center.

Irene enjoyed gatherings with family and friends in her home and was an excellent cook. Along with cooking, she enjoyed crocheting and crafts. She had a real passion for playing cards and belonged to several card clubs during her lifetime. She loved to travel and looked forward to her trips back to Akron to see her family there. Irene was a loving and sweet person who will be greatly missed.

Irene is survived by three children, Linda Cramer (Steve) of Zephyrhills, Fla., Nancy Riddle of Big Lake, MN and son, Cody Riddle of Taos, N.M.; sister, Nancy Mayer and brother, Don Drayer of Akron Ohio; her grandchildren, Kelly Lorenzen of Ida Grove, Iowa, Rick Rodgers (Lisa) of Renwick, Iowa, Ashley Riddle of Los Angeles, Calif. and Taj Riddle of Taos, N.M.; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Cassie, Zach, Heather, and Beth; and eight, great-great-grandchildren.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her mother, father, four brothers and three sisters.

Irene will be buried next to her husband at the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
