Jim Warmack and Nathan Carlson combined for 32 points in the paint in leading East Grand Forks to a 71-45 victory over the Park Rapids boys basketball team Tuesday night at the Area High School gym.

Warmack, a 6-foot-6 freshman center, and Carlson, a 6-5 senior forward, combined for 22 points as the Green Wave jumped out to a 35-21 lead at the half.

Four inside baskets by Warmack and a pair of baskets by Carlson gave EGF a 24-10 lead with 7:40 to play in the first half. Kyle Goplerud and Scott Wolff had two field goals apiece for the Panthers.

A 3-pointer by Tyler Ridlon and layups by Wolff, Tyler Ridlon and Chris Goplerud offset two layups by Carlson as the Panthers faced a 35-21 deficit at the break.

Two short jumpers by Carlson pushed EGF's lead to 42-23 with 16:44 to play before two free throws by Christian Ridlon, two inside baskets by Kyle Goplerud, and a jumper by Wolff pulled Park Rapids to within 47-32 with 11:13 to go.

Two baskets by Austin Holy extended the Green Wave's advantage to 53-32 at the 9:49 mark. A layup by Kyle Goplerud, a jumper by Wolff and a layup by Chris Goplerud kept the gap at 60-39 with 7:18 remaining.

After an 8-0 run gave EGF its biggest lead of the game at 68-39 with 5:03 to play, a basket off a rebound by Christian Ridlon, a layup by Chris Goplerud and two baskets by Jordan Bergquist in the final 4:26 concluded the scoring for the Panthers.

Kyle Goplerud's 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots led the Panthers, who fell to 1-19 on the season. Wolff also scored 10 points, Christian Ridlon and Chris Goplerud had seven rebounds each, and Mason Long had three assists.

Warmack's 19 points and 13 rebounds and Carlson's 13 points and 11 rebounds led EGF, which improved to 13-11 on the season.
