Injured snowmobiler charged with DWI after Huntersville crash
At 2:06 a.m. on Jan. 23, a Wadena County sheriff's deputy responded to a snowmobile crash in Huntersville Township, near 259th Avenue.
The driver of the snowmobile, Stephen James Juntilla, 23, of Plymouth, Minn., was injured in the accident. The deputy smelled alcohol on Juntilla and gave him a preliminary breath test, which registered 0.355, more than four times the legal limit to drive.
Later that morning, as he was treated at the hospital for his injuries, Juntilla allegedly gave a urine test to the deputy, which came back from analysis as 0.23 blood alcohol level.
He was charged March 18 in Wadena County District Court with second-degree DWI. He has a previous conviction for driving while impaired in 2005 in Hennepin County. Juntilla's first court appearance was scheduled for April 12.
