The Todd County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident at the Dan Miller farm, 35164 165th Avenue, Eagle Bend, at 7:24 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they found the male infant, Chrissie D. Miller, was unresponsive.

Resuscitation efforts were conducted but were unsuccessful, said Sheriff Peter Mikkelson.

The infant had been in a child seat that was placed in a hand-pulled style cart near the entrance to a barn while family members were doing chores nearby, according to investigators.

A horse was tied up inside the barn and the length of rope was long enough that the rear portion of the horse was close to the infant.

Eagle Bend Fire and Rescue, Bertha Ambulance and the Todd County chaplain assisted at the scene.
