Icy roads causing numerous accidents
The female passenger of a minivan that rolled on icy roads Monday morning escaped serious injury.
Hubbard County and authorities in adjoining counties responded to numerous reports of rollovers caused by heavy frost and rain Sunday that turned area highways into skating rinks.
The accident north of the intersections of County Roads 4 and 40 was such an accident.
"She's not seriously injured," Hubbard County Chief Deputy Jerry Tatro said of the trapped passenger. The woman's husband was also trapped in the vehicle. "It's just that the seat belt has got him hanging."
Emergency crews and medical personnel had to break in the back doors of the van to free the couple, who were not seriously injured and were able to walk to a waiting ambulance.
Park Rapids fire crews arrived on scene to clean up fuel spilled in the crash and prevent it from igniting.
A woman was taken to an unknown hospital following a one-vehicle rollover near Walker on icy roads. She was complaining of leg pain.
Hubbard County crews were out sanding and de-icing, but not before another rollover occurred on County Road 9. Both the Hubbard County crashes occurred just before 9 a.m.
