Hunter who shot himself cited
Park Rapids Minnesota PO Box 111 56470

A Warroad man who accidentally shot himself while hunting at night has been cited for taking rabbits in closed hours.

A game warden issued 22-year-old Kyle Reinhart a ticket for $115.

Reinhart told the Herald he was not entirely clear on the rules of rabbit hunting. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, rabbits cannot be hunted after sunset without a nuisance permit.

Reinhart was driving around the backcountry of Roseau County, Minn., in February. He said he stepped out of the vehicle to unload his handgun when his hand slipped and the gun discharged, putting a round in his knee. He was expected to make a full recovery.
