Officially it’s the 119th Shell Prairie Agricultural Association’s fair, containing lots of new acts and a whole new landscape, July 16-20.

The annual demolition derby is out due to the lack of cars.

But a mud run will take its place, promising to throw as much dirt as the demo derby did.

The big change is that the tracks will run east to west, not north to south as they have in the past.

And the same midway as last year, Crescent City Midway, is coming back with new rides. Rides will not be offered this year on Sunday. They will be held Wednesday through Saturday.

There’s new flavored ice beverages and iced coffee this year, in addition to the usual fair fare.

As usual, the talent show kicks off the Wednesday night show at 7 p.m.

The teen dance will follow with music by “Party 2 Go.”

Thursday night is American Wrestling Federation wrestling. That’s new this year. Costumed wrestlers will be squaring off against each other. Admission is $10 for adults, kids 6-12 is $5 and five and under free.

Friday is Senior Day. The evening show, at 7 p.m., is a new monster truck show.

Live music follows by a band called “Nate’s Fish.”

Saturday the kiddie tractor pull starts at 10 a.m. with the adult event beginning at 1 p.m. The modified tractor and truck pull highlights the arena at 7 p.m.

Sunday the North Country Mud Racing Association invades the grandstand at 1 p.m. This is all new.

Wristband days are Thursday through Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. with reduced rates for all.

And, if you run short of cash, there will be an ATM machine on the grounds.

There will be five days of fair fun.
