Hubbard County Auditor-Treasurer Pam Heeren submitted her resignation Monday morning, indicating she will leave her post at the end of June.

"I have over 40 years with Hubbard County and have decided that it’s time to start a new stage of life," she said in a brief statement. " I want more time to be a grandmother to my 1 year old grandson, my husband thinks my golf game needs a lot of work and I might even attempt to learn how to cook after all these years.  That one seems to still be in the discussion stages," she joked.

Heeren has been praised for keeping Hubbard County's finances in order despite a downturn in the economy. The county was in such good financial shape it was able to pay $2 million down on its latest courthouse renovation project.
