Horse killed, driver injured in Wadena County collision

A driver suffered minor injuries after striking and killing a horse in rural Wadena County early Saturday morning.

Forty-six-year-old Matthew Collins of St. Paul was traveling northbound on County Road 23 in Wing River Township when the Chevrolet S-10 pickup he was driving collided with a horse about 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the Wadena County Sheriff's Office.

When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered the horse was deceased. Collins was transported to Tri-County Health Care with non-life-threatening injuries.
