Helicopters called to scene of 2-vehicle crash near Lake Bemidji State Park

Rescue workers are responding this afternoon to a head-on crash involving two vehicles on Big Bass Road Northeast, near Lake Bemidji State Park.

Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after 1 p.m., including two helicopters requested to aid with the response.

The crash on Big Bass Road happened south of Birchmont Beach Road Northeast, also known as Beltrami County Road 20, on one of the curves in the road.

Dispatchers said one of the injured is a 36-year-old woman, who reportedly is seven months pregnant. She suffered facial, arm and lower extremity injuries.

Both drivers are being extricated from their vehicles. At least one of the helicopters landed on the road.

However, the extent of injuries suffered by any of the occupants was not immediately available.
