Heavy snow blankets Hubbard County region
The Hubbard County neighborhood woke up to a 4-inch blanket of heavy wet snow Saturday with some residents reporting up to six inches.
Parts of North Dakota saw 11 inches, said National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kaiser,
"We're gonna see some light stuff yet this morning possible" in Hubbard County, he said. "But we should be pretty much done with this system."
Grand Forks got seven inches of snow; Fargo got two. "South of Cooperstown they reported 11 inches," Kaiser said.
"The lift in moisture with this system hung around and was a little more efficient than expected, so we did end up with more snow than expected to begin with.
"The strength of the system, there was more moisture available and the lift was actually stronger," he added.
"It should melt fairly quickly so it will act as a rain almost."
But the extended forecast is "not warm at all," Kaiser said.
"We're going to keep the clouds through the week-end and have chances for precip, rain-snow mix, a couple times in the next five to seven days," he said.
Will the region see spring?
"Probably by June I would hope spring rolls around."
