Heart disease campaign begins

PARK RAPIDS CENTURY SCHOOL
Students and staff of Park Rapids Area School District are invited to participate in a Red Out event Thursday, Feb. 9.
This Red Out will take place to bring awareness to heart disease. During school and even during the girls and boys basketball games that night we will honor and remember loved ones by wearing red. Teams, students and community members are encouraged to purchase "Go Red" items and wear them to work and school Thursday Feb. 9.
Cardiovascular disease kills more people in the U.S. than the next five leading causes of death combined, including cancer. This Red Out is a great way to celebrate life of family and friends lost to this devastating disease while making a difference by helping to save others.
Red Out gear will be sold in both schools throughout the week of Feb. 6-9. Gear will also be for sale at the basketball games Thursday night. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1. People could win a chance to shoot some free throws during half-time. If you make a shot, you win a t-shirt. All donations and proceeds from this event will go to the Midwest American Heart Association.
