Hanson's pair of double-doubles leads Tigers to pair of victories

Riley Hanson's 24 points, 19 rebounds and five blocked shots sparked the Nevis girls basketball team to a 59-45 win over Pillager Friday night.

Megan Norby added 11 points and six steals, Diana Schuldt scored 10 points, Mattie Hjelseth had seven rebounds and four assists, and Karly Drury had four assists for the Tigers, who improved to 7-7 on the season.

Pillager fell to 0-14.

Tigers defeat Mustangs

Hanson's 13 points and 18 rebounds helped the Tigers defeat Kelliher/Nor-thome 50-45 in a Northwoods Conference game at the Tiger Arena on Jan. 22.

Norby led the Tigers with 16 points while Hjelseth had eight rebounds as the Tigers rallied from a 22-17 halftime deficit.

The win lifted the Tigers to 5-3 in conference play while the Mustangs fell to 6-2 in the conference.

K-N defeated the Tigers 75-50 earlier in the season.

PR-B stays perfect in conference

Tatum Sheley scored 17 points as Pine River-Backus remained undefeated in conference play with a 54-39 win over the Tigers on Jan. 17.

Kendra Brasel and Autumn Ackerman added 11 points each as PR-B improved to 8-0 in the conference.

Norby's 19 points and Hanson's 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots led the Tigers.
