Hanson, who also led the team with 11 digs in that match, broke Jaci Heath's school record of 1,393 career kills.

Megan Norby added 10 kills, nine digs and five ace serves while Kate Dierkhising served four aces. Olivia Toft had 36 set assists.

Tigers finish sixth at Showcase

Hanson earned a spot on the all-tournament team as the Tigers finished sixth at last weekend's fourth annual Class A Showcase at Bethel University.

Nevis defeated Fosston 26-24, 25-4, tied Deer River 21-25, 25-9 and lost to MACCRAY 25-14, 25-20 in pool play last Friday to advance to the championship bracket.

During last Saturday's finals, the Tigers opened with a 25-16, 25-22 loss to Mayer Lutheran before advancing to the consolation title match with a 21-25, 25-12, 16-14 win over Rushford-Peterson. Lake of the Woods defeated Nevis 25-14, 25-21 in the consolation title match.

Canby defeated Southwest Christian in the title match while Mayer Lutheran topped MACCRAY for third place. Mayer Lutheran was rated No. 4 in the latest state Class A poll while Nevis was ranked No. 9. Also listed in the state poll were Canby (No. 3), Southwest Christian (No. 6) and MACCRAY (No. 10).

Hanson had 15 kills, Toft had 19 set assists and Norby had 12 digs in the win over Fosston.

Hanson had 14 kills while Toft had 18 set assists and three ace serves in the match against Deer River.

Hanson (17) and Norby (10) combined for 27 kills against MACCRAY. Toft had 15 set assists and Katie Becker had seven digs.

Hanson's 10 kills, Toft's 11 set assists and Becker's seven digs led the Tigers against Mayer Lutheran.

Hanson pounded down 26 kills, Toft had 21 set assists and Norby had 10 digs in the win over Rushford-Peterson.

Hanson's 16 kills, Toft's 21 set assists and Shakell Rogers' six digs led the Tigers in the loss to LOW.

In the six tournament matches, Hanson had 88 kills, 34 digs and eight ace serves to earn a spot on the 12-member all-tournament team.

Hanson tallied 22 kills and 12 digs while Norby served 12 aces as the Tigers defeated Cass Lake 25-11, 25-7, 25-9 Tuesday night.

The win lifted Nevis to 2-0 in Northland Conference play and 8-5-1 overall.
