Sunday, Oct. 25

-A children's Halloween party for kids ages 0-12 will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 870 in Park Rapids. There will be games, costume contest, lunch and more.


-Ichabod Crane, "a bumbling, loving schoolmaster," will take the stage in a presentation of "Sleepy Hollow - A Northwoods Tale" at the Akeley Regional Community Center. The play is a retelling of Washington Irving's story, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." This version is set in the northwoods of Minnesota in the late 1800s with Crane dispatched from the metro to teach and lead a choir in a rural village. The play will be staged at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 and at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. A Halloween matinee will be performed at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 followed by a children's Halloween party.

Saturday, Oct. 31

-The Century annual PTA Halloween Fest will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at Century School. All families with children in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade are invited. There will be a concession booth with taco in a bag, sloppy Joes, beverages, cookies and chips. There will be a variety of games for all kids to enjoy.

-Kids are invited to head to Main street from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 for trick or treat in Park Rapids. Participating merchants will satisfy candy carvings with goodies. Then head to Heritage Living Center for more candy from 6:30 p.m. until it's all gone.

-Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe will have a community-wide "Treats for Tots" Halloween event from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at Northern Lights Casino, Hotel & Event Center in Walker and the Palace Casino Hotel in Cass Lake. Treats for Tots offers children a positive safe environment where kids can receive generous amounts of treats and attention in a well supervised and controlled environment. Children are not exposed to any gaming activities during this event.

-Menahga Community Education, with many school and community organizations, is hosting its 13th annual pumpkin party from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 in the Menahga gym. An alternative to trick or treating, the event will be a safe and fun evening for children of all ages. They may come in costumes if they wish, play games, win prizes, have some goodies and take home a treat bag.

-Deep Portage will have a Halloween concert featuring Dick Kimmel and Jerilyn Kjellberg at 7 p.m. with dinner prior to the show at 5:30 p.m. Deep Portage is located 10 miles east of Hackensack, off County Road 46.
