Gymnasts open season with loss to Sauk Rapids

Taylor Drury's 7.70 in vault led the Park Rapids-Nevis gymnastics team in its season opener Thursday night.

Sauk Rapids won the dual meet by a 134.275 to 89.55 margin.

Park Rapids' best event was vault as Lindsey Girtz's 7.65, Kayla Johnk's 7.55 and Amy Klein's 7.35 rounded out the Panthers' 30.25 team score.

In floor exercise, Klein's 6.80, Drury's 6.50, Johnk's 6.075 and Talya Smith's 4.70 led to a 24.075.

The Panthers scored a 17.775 on uneven parallel bars with Drury's 6.15, Klein's 4.20, Johnk's 4.075 and Kylee Roy's 3.35 leading the way.

Klein's 5.45, Nicole Eischens' 4.20, Johnk's 3.95 and Girtz's 3.85 led to a 17.45 score on balance beam.

Klein compiled a 23.80 all-around score to finish fourth while Johnk finished fifth with a 21.65.
