Saturday's second annual Laporte Area Take a Kid Fishing drew 35 kids out on Garfield Lake to drop a line, 16 boats with two guides per boat lending their expertise. The numbers have doubled from last year's premier event. Each fisherkid receiving a T-shirt, hat, rod and reel, a loaded tackle box and a snack bag. Before venturing out, the kids were introduced to Aquatic Invasive Species and preventive measures to be taken.
