According to a police news release, the incident began about 12:24 a.m. when a police sergeant attempted to pull over a white 1992 Toyoto Corolla on the 3200 block of 32nd Avenue for reckless driving.

The car's driver instead accerated "to high speeds" and drove into a residential area near Olson Drive and 27th Avenue South, police said. It eventually headed west on 32nd Avenue South at high speeds before going to the Baron Boulevard area and finally stopping in a cul-de-sac in the 1300 block of Noble Cove.

There, according to police, police said, the driver abandoned his car and fled officers on foot, swimming across the English Coulee into Sertoma Park before his arrest near the park's bathroom facilities.

Myles Stillman, 21, Grand Forks, was arrested for reckless driving, fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and fleeing law enforcement as a non-drive, according to police.
