Grand Forks mail carrier arrested on DUI charge
A mail truck driver was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence Saturday morning, the Grand Forks Police Department reported.
Sgt. Jason Dvorak said the incident happened at 10:48 a.m., when an officer clocked a man driving the postal truck more than 10 mph over the speed limit on 17th Avenue South. He was pulled over onto South 35th Street for a routine traffic violation, but the officer smelled alcohol on his breath and administered a field sobriety test.
The officer decided to arrest the man for DUI, and he was brought to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, Dvorak said. He posted bond and left immediately, the center said.
The man's name was not released, and Dvorak said the investigation into the incident is finished.
