While on probation, Petrick must serve six months in a community correctional center and six months on electronic home monitoring. She can also receive credit for time spent at an inpatient mental-health facility.

Authorities said Petrick, also known as Amy Galloway, was aided in the scam by Jesse Hutchison, who was sentenced Aug. 23.

Hutchison, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud, was ordered to spend up to four months at a halfway house and receive a mental health assessment and follow any recommendations.

An indictment accused Petrick of posing "as a birth mother purportedly interested in placing her child with the aspiring adoptive parents." The scheme led to a loss of more than $10,500 for the adoptive parents and adoption agencies, the indictment says.

Petrick, 27, and Hutchison, 34, were both ordered to pay restitution to the victims.
