GF sheriff reports fair theft
The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department has been investigating the theft of money from a ticket window during the last day of the county fair.
Authorities say a carnival worker closed out the ticket till and then took a cab to Fargo.
The woman hailed a cab from Grand Forks Taxi, said the night dispatcher. The female cabbie collected the $140 one-way fare in cash and drove the woman to Fargo. It's an unusual fare for the cab company and not one always possible when only one driver is available, the dispatcher said.
The sheriff's department reports that authorities caught up with the woman Sunday night and the missing money was returned to the Murphy Brothers carnival.
Authorities did not release the amount taken. They say carnival officials declined to prosecute the suspect.
