George Henry Dippold, 64, of Akeley, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at his residence. Cause of death was heart failure presumed.
George was born Oct. 30, 1949 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids. His parents were Henry and Barbara (Poncelet) Dippold both of Akeley. George attended Akeley public school and graduated in 1967. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church while it was in existence, but currently attended multiple churches in the area.
George was currently employed by Levi Holsapple Construction of Akeley, where he mowed road ditches and plowed county roads in Hubbard County for the last 10 years. Prior to this he was a truck driver for a construction company in Winnebago, but he was injured on the job.
George's hobbies include deer hunting, reading, working odd jobs, traveling the countryside, visiting friends, card games, gardening, garage sales and certainly auction sales.
George's life was his extended family and friends. He was always sharing of his time and experience to lend a helping hand. Never famous or rich, the best thing he left behind was his example.
He is survived by his daughter, Zita Rose Dippold (Kyle Howard), Akeley; stepdaughter, LaDonna Hanson (Karen Kaasa), Grand Rapids; and a number of cousins.
He was predeceased by his great-grandparents; grandparents; parents, Henry and Barbara (Poncelet) Dippold; an infant sister, Zita Dippold; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening, March 6, at Cease Family Funeral Home in Nevis.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Nevis.
All are welcome to attend. A small reception will be offered.
