A freezing rain advisory remains in effect until noon today in east-central and southeastern North Dakota and west-central Minnesota. A winter storm watch will be in effect from 3 p.m. through late tonight.

Conditions in Fargo-Moorhead were foggy with freezing drizzle and a temperature of 30 degrees as of about 7:45 a.m.

Weather service meteorologist Tom Grafenauer said the potential for a narrow band of heavy snow is strongest from the Wahpeton area to the Fergus Falls, Minn., and Park Rapids, Minn., areas. Fargo is expected to receive an inch or so of snow, though the narrow band of heavy snow could occur anywhere in the watch area, Grafenauer said.

"If that band sets up, you guys could see nothing or you could see a few inches, as well," he said.

A cold front is expected to move into the area Tuesday night, bringing a brief shot of bitterly cold temperatures. The weather service predicts Thursday's high will be 8 below zero.
