Francis Williamette, 88, was born July 14, 1925, in Stewart. He was the son of Fred and Louise (Martin) Williamette. He lived in St. Louis Park until his retirement then moved to Mesa, Ariz., until he passed away.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon leaving the army he worked as a mechanic, eventually starting his own mechanic business.
He was an active member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion, and Polka USA.
He enjoyed mechanics, handyman work, with his greatest love being polka and dancing.
He is survived by his five children, Lynette (Jeff) Lindstrom of Park Rapids, Barbara Moore of Sarasota, Fla., Rose (Cleo) Williams of Park Rapids, DuWayne (Donna) Williamette of East Bethel and Jim Williamette of Westminster, Colo.; grandchildren, Chris (Scott) Burlingame of Park Rapids, Jamie Jones of Park Rapids, Trisha (Matt) Knapp of Menahga, Michael Williams of Arizona, Shawn (Amanda) Williams of Park Rapids, Adam (Deidra) Williams, of Park Rapids, Jason Wil-liamette, Jimmy and Thrisha Stevenson of East Bethel, Heather (Paul) Williamette of Coon Rapids and Jessica (Sean) Starksen, of St. Lucan; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernie (Sharon) Williamette of Eden Prairie, Fred (Carol) Williamette of Houston, Texas, Lenny (Sheila) Williamette of Bemidji; sisters, Marie Messer of Becker, Ethel Bechthold of Belgrade and Hazel Enzenroth of Mantorville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vincent; and daughter, Christine.
Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Tom Friedl officiating.
Inurnment: Tuesday, May 27, Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
