The ambulance's driver, a 28-year-old male, and EMT assistant, a 35-year-old male, were not injured. There were no patients in the ambulance at the time.

The ambulance was near the approach to the White Earth ambulance garage when a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix began drifting across the center line, according to the Becker County Sheriff's Department.

The ambulance driver was able to avoid a head-on collision, but the car side-swiped the ambulance's cab and hit the van portion of the vehicle, the sheriff's office stated in a news release.

The individuals in the car were transported to St. Mary's Innovis Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

The driver, a 28-year-old woman from Ponsford, and one passenger, a 28-year-old woman from Ogema, suffered severe injuries that weren't life threatening.

A 35-year-old male from Mahnomen was not seriously injured, and a 45-year-old male whose address is unknown suffered injuries that weren't life threatening.

The accident remains under investigation, and the Minnesota State Patrol will be reconstructing the scene.
